In October 2013, DBL Logistics embarked on a major expansion, opening its new £2 million, 33,500 sq.ft. warehouse and office facility on Tinsley Park Road, Sheffield. Named after Benjamin Huntsman, the inventor and manufacturer of crucible steel, the 'Huntsman's Depot' is located on the former site of one of Huntsman's factories.

David Clarkson, Managing Director of family company DBL Logistics, said: “The Huntsman's Depot is our first independently owned building since we launched the company, and a landmark development for us. The facility doubles our capacity to 6,000 pallets and supports the company’s continued growth. We have further plans to expand the site by another 16,500 sq.ft. in the future, so this is a really exciting time for us and the logistics sector in the Sheffield City Region.”

As part of the investment, DBL Logistics has increased its fleet of vehicles from 15 to 25, added two new staff and installed a 100 percent accurate warehouse management system from Clydebuilt Business Solutions Ltd. The Huntsman's Depot is now a flagship site within the United Pallet Network (UPN), which consists of more than 60 member depots, collecting and delivering freight from across the UK and Europe.

Earlier this year DBL Logistics won Sales Depot of the Year and Depots’ Depot of the Year at the UPN annual member awards in Warwickshire. It was also awarded Platinum Depot member status with UPN after securing the Gold Depot award for three consecutive years. The standard is given to members who have shown high levels of delivery, customer service, investment and administration on a consistent basis.
