Yorkshire and the North’s Bid for the High Speed Rail College: A Request for Your Support
Tuesday, 8 July 2014
Doncaster Has Made the Shortlist to be the Location for the New National High Speed Rail College. Your Support Can Help Make It Happen.
Representing Yorkshire and the North, Doncaster is in a competitive process against Derby, Manchester and Birmingham to host this prestigious institution. Securing the College would bring enormous employment and economic benefits for young people and businesses throughout Yorkshire and the North.
Already the largest rail cluster in the country with major centres in York and Darlington as well as Doncaster, locating the college in the North will ensure the region continues to be an internationally renowned centre of rail engineering excellence that will attract investment from across the globe.
The bid has been submitted by the Centre for Rail Engineering and Technical Excellence (CREATE) which is a business-led partnership involving major rail companies such as Wabtec Rail and Unipart Rail within the Sheffield City Region. The College will host 3,000 students who, because of its easy accessibility and established links with other centres, will be able to travel from a number of areas from across the region.
What can you do?
We need your support to ensure that our bid is successful. With over 200 pledges of support, which are growing by the day, we urge you to provide a written expression of support for the North’s bid, via the Business Doncaster team.
