Planning Approval Secured on iPort Doncaster UK at 'the UK's Logistics Hub'

Wednesday, 18 February 2015

The £400m iPort Doncaster UK logistics scheme has moved a step closer. Developer Verdion has won planning approval for the final details on four units, the scheme's 35-acre Strategic Rail Freight Terminal and site infrastructure.

The move paves the way for the first 3m sq ft (278,700 sq m) phase of development.

'We are one step closer towards delivering one of the largest logistics schemes in the UK,” said John Clements, Verdion’s European development director. 'Together with our funding partners HOOPP and with continued support from Doncaster Metropolitan Borough Council and other stakeholders, we are pushing forward with this strategic site, located in the UK’s logistics hub. £21 million of infrastructure works have already started on site and we are in talks with a number of operators.'

The iPort, developed with funding from Canadian backers the Healthcare of Ontario Pension Plan, will eventually total 6m sq ft of warehousing space and could create over 5,000 jobs.

The 337-acre (net developable) site is linked with Junction 3 of the M18 via the new Finningley and Rossington Regeneration Route Scheme (FARRRS).

Gent Visick, Cushman & Wakefield and CBRE are letting agents for iPort.
