LOGISITICS companies from across the Sheffield City Region are being invited to the first in a series of events launching this month (June 22) aimed at ‘Building the SCR’s Logistics Hub.

The event, which has been arranged by Logistics Hub UK (LHUK), will take place at Clifton Park Museum Gardens, in Rotherham and will see businesses debate the vision and benefits of working beyond the region in the UK in a bid to strengthen and build the Sheffield City Region’s Logistics Hub.

Steve Swann, Doncaster Chamber’s business growth advisor, who is leading on the LHUK project, said: “We are really looking forward to meeting with businesses from across the region to discuss the growth of our logistics hub.

“Guests at the event will get the opportunity to hear from Rob Bell, CEO and co-founder of Archomai. He is a specialist in logistics and supply chain thinking and practice in emerging and developing markets. Having worked on Economic Development projects in over 35 countries he has a great deal of information to share!”

Recent projects Rob has worked on include Indian ports; the leather supply chain in Zambia and, skills capacity building projects such as Modal at Grimsby Institute. He has contributed to the Northern Powerhouse debate and is working on trade and export links with the Americas; India and Africa and is working with colleagues in the Americas to create a global SME network as part of a Global Gateways Federation.

The LHUK group is a membership group established to represent powerful partnership marketing for Sheffield City Region’s logistic sector. It is a partnership of private sector companies committed to the on-going growth, development and promotion of the logistics and distribution sector in the Sheffield City Region initially, with a view to developing improved activity with other city regions i.e. Leeds, Manchester.

“Logistics is a vital sector for any region and this is an area we can really shout about in the Sheffield City Region. We have some fantastic businesses and super connectivity which really does make us stand out from the crowd,” added Steve.
