Rail group Rhomberg Sersa is the latest international company to commit its UK future to Doncaster, Sheffield City Region.

The multi-national firm, with turnover of more than €300m, has taken a unit at West Moor Park, Armthorpe for its UK head office.

Carl Garrud, managing director of Austrian/Swiss firm Rhomberg Sersa, who now works out of Doncaster, said: “Choosing Doncaster will enable the company to establish key contacts with the numerous rail and engineering businesses already based in Doncaster and Yorkshire. This clustering effect was an important factor when deciding to base our UK operations in the town."

Mayor of Doncaster, Ros Jones, added: “We are delighted to welcome another household name in the rail sector in Rhomberg Sersa to Doncaster. This is another feather in Doncaster’s cap as we continue to attract leading rail and engineering firms to the town.”

The Rhomberg Sersa Rail Group is among the world’s leading Slab Track technology companies providing manufacturing, installation and design services. It joins companies such as Wabtec and Trackwork in Doncaster.

The company is also expected to continue to commit to Doncaster with the possibility of undertaking its manufacturing in the town.

Doncaster has more than 6,000 people employed in the rail industry and its bid to bring the High Speed Rail College to Yorkshire and the North is also backed by Rhomberg Sersa.
