Stronger together: Construction industry leaders show solidarity at Logistics Hub UK event

Monday 3 October 2016

Leaders from the region’s construction industry joined forces with logistics companies at Doncaster Racecourse today to discuss the challenges facing the sector.
Speakers from Henry Boot Construction, Cementation Skanska and Lindum Group PLC led the discussions at the Logistics Hub UK breakfast networking event.
The topics on the agenda included the impact of Brexit, the benefits of the Sheffield City Region as a logistics hub and the systems and processes necessary for construction companies to succeed in today’s economy.

Steve Swann, project manager at Logistics Hub UK, said: “Today’s event was all about bringing the region’s construction and logistics companies together to discuss and debate the market at present.

“In the wake of Brexit there is uncertainty out there, but it was pleasing to hear that for now, the general consensus is positive and in some cases, orders have risen since the referendum decision.

“We heard some great examples of best practice and, also, how construction businesses within the Sheffield City Region and beyond are working together to flourish and make the most of the skills and workforce availability, lower costs and strong transport networks on offer here.”

Dave Woodhouse of Henry Boot Construction Ltd, Neil Coote of Lindum Group Plc and Jamie Dunbar of Cementation Skanska spoke at the event, hosted by Logistics Hub UK – a membership organisation established to develop the Sheffield City Region as one of the UK’s leading logistics, warehousing and distribution sites.
