Doncaster's iPort Logistics Park and Strategic Rail Freight Terminal is being designed and built by Verdion. Previously known as Helios Europe, the company is a major real estate investor and developer with a specialist focus on logistics warehousing in mainland Europe.
About iPort Doncaster, UK...
The iPort is a revolutionary logistics park that brings together grade A warehousing and ultrafast transport links in an inland port setting. Sustainability is integral to the project. Situated on a 337-acre site in Doncaster, the six million square feet of high-specification buildings are designed to maximise energy efficiency and use renewable, reclaimed and recycled materials wherever possible. However, leading edge development is only part of the story. What really makes iPort stand out is the
35-acre on-site freight terminal. Connecting directly into the UK rail network, the terminal will provide fast connections to Humber and southern ports, the Channel Tunnel and the country’s main industrial heartlands. Once the FARRRS link road project is complete, the iPort will also benefit from direct access to the motorway and airport, giving unrivalled all-round connectivity from a central UK location.

The iPort is a flagship project for Verdion. It’s also one of the most important freight distribution developments in the UK. With the ports becoming more congested, there is a growing need to move freight quickly and efficiently away from the coast to key inland distribution hubs.

FARRRS is the link in the chain to kick-start iPort, our 6 million sq ft logistics development. The first stretch of the new road connects our rail-connected site to the motorway network and the link will continue to Doncaster Sheffield Airport, creating a fully multi-modal Logistics Hub.
John Clements, Development Director, Verdion
The iPort is important to FARRRS because of the employment benefits – we hope to generate around 5,000 new jobs when we’re fully operational. Without FARRRS there is no iPort. The iPort’s rail terminal will be transformational but we also have to have that link to the motorway and airport that the new road provides.

Doncaster is already the location of choice for many major companies including IKEA, BMW, Next, Amazon and B&Q. However, with FARRRS set to dramatically improve connectivity by air and land, we hope to be able to attract even more of the country’s leading retailers and logistics companies to the area.
